Hike to the Berber/Amazigh* secrets, 8 days, for 2 - 8 persons

Saturday 11. May - Saturday 18. May, 2024 / Saturday 12. Oct. - Saturday 19. Oct., 2024

*They call themselves Amazigh = which means "free man".

We pick you up at the airport of Marrakech and drive you to the Atlas Mountains, first tino the green valley of Ourika. There we will visit an salt salina and learn more about production of it. Later arrival in Amlougui, a still authentic village, where you will check into your rooms and have dinner with us.

On Sunday we will drive to an unknown area where you will explore the different landscapes and 13 Berber villages, lunch by a Berber family.

On Monday we go together to a typical Berber market enjoy a Tajine. After that we go to the local hamam or visit a ceramics class.

On Tuesday we pack up for our 3-day trekking tour with an average walking time of about 6 hours. On the plateau of Yagour we will find the 3000 years old stone engravings. We will spend 2x nights in tents.

On Friday we will have time to relax or make an excursion to the seven waterfalls in Setti Fadma. There we will buy food for cooking together dinner.

Today is your last day and we will take you to the airport or to Marrakech

1st day: Saturday: Transfere from the airport to Amlougui house. If we have time we will visit a salt salina near by. Then we will bring you to Amlougui house where we dinner togehter

Day 2: Sunday: Full day tour. After a nice breakfast we will drive you to the beautiful area of Oukemdan with 13 Berber villages,. You can explore the landscapes on foot for a sertain time and see from far Marrakesch and the surrounding mountains. Optional 1 hour trekking. Lunch by a Berber familiy. After thise impressinfv day, we will relax at Amlougui.

Day 3: Monday: Today we will bring you to the weekly market of the locals of Ourika Valley. Probably you will be the only Tourists. Then you have tha chance to decide going to a lovcal Hamam or make some ceramics, guided by e expert of ceramics. Nice dinner at Amlougui

Day 4: Tuesday: 6h hike, 12km, 700m▲:  Start of the three day trekking. The first stage brings us after about 6 hours walk to 2100m.a.s.l. Including picknick lunch on the way. We pitch our tents and enjoy the evening by the fire.

Day 5: Wednesday: 4,5h hike, 10km, 600m▲:  We continue to 2700m where we find the 3000 year old stone engravings on the impressive plateau and pitch our tents again. Trekking = around 4-5 hrs. Picnic lunch.

Day 6: Thursday: 5h hike, 9km, 1000m ▼:  From there we walk slowly down where the green of the cultivated terraces shines out especially intensely next to the red rock. Descent down towards Amlougui house. Picnic lunch.

Day 7: Friday. After a nice breakfast we will walk through the fields of Amlougui and see the water irrigation systems. Then after 45 min we will get to the famous village of Setti Fadma with the seven water falls. There you have the chance to hike up to the wather falls for 60 min and back. We will have lunch by the river, buy some food for dinner where you can learn how to make a Tajine and Berber bread.

Day 8: Saturday. Transfer to the airport or Marrakech if you stay some more days in Morocco.

Amlougui House is a authentic place to explore the real life of the Amazigh / Berber and are aware of sustainable tourism. Amlougui house is located in the heart of the village Amlougui. All rooms are built and furnished in the simple and comfortable and traditionell style. There are two toilets and a hot shower, accessible to all guests.

Meldsen-Room: This double-bed room in which you will feel at home immediately. The mountain Ansa has a special Aura hope you can feel it.

Tea will be served and meals of course too
A place to relax have a gerat view over the valley and the whole village

The living room: A very nice and cozy living- and dining room with a fireplace and a large picture window will complete the well-being.

 

Get ready for your adventure

Clothes: Basically you need to pack comfortable trekking clothes, long pants in order to respect the local culture. Tight-fitting clothes are not recommended. Thank you for your respect! Your soft luggage will go on the back of our mules, you need a daypack for your day stuff, trekking-shoes, water bottle, sandals/flip flop, rain- and warm clothes, sun creme, sun heat, camera. Sleeping bag if you need one let us know. You can rent it from us. € 5 a day. (with inlay).

General equipment: For shorter excursions a daypack is recommended.

Medication: personal medication, small first aid kit, and medication for gastrointestinal upsets such as Bioflorin or Imodium. Rehydration sachets are also a good idea to avoid dehydration!
