
Get to know how to make natural paint and the real life of the Berber / Amazigh

The colors of the Atlas Mountains, 8 days

A Morocco trip for those interested in culture and art. On the way up to the High Atlas we will visit an Amazigh/Berber museum where we will learn more about their culture, history and way of life.
Then we continue to our guest house which is located in the middle of the Berber village of Amlougui.
Through our host family, we will have the opportunity to experience their daily life by sharing time together.
Here we will explore the impressive nature and beauty of the High Atlas while hiking and searching for the natural paint to making our own color pastes. You can also visit the kinder garden and see the women cooperative where they make carpets of your order.
With Ibrahim we will explore the area in the High Atlas and Cornelia will accompany you on the way of making color pigments, as well by painting and creating your drawings.
In the end of the week we will exchange the experiences and show each others art work like a little exposition.
1st day: Saturday. Individual arrival in Marrakesch. Transfer to Amlougui, visit of a salt salina, check-in and have dinner together.
2nd day: Sunday. Breakfast together and hike. Exploring the surrounding area and collecting the first color pigments. Visit to the women‘s cooperative and the kindergarten.
Day 3: Monday. We search for color pigments for our color pastes by going further finde some very beautiful red color earth.
Day 4: Tuesday. The collected, stones and earth are processed to fine color powder. Technical Imputs to the theme, processing and production.
Day 5 :Wednesday. Painting and experimenting on different painting surfaces. Technical instruction on the subject, binder and painting base.
Day 6: Thursday. Hike in the Atlas about 1.5 hrs with opportunity to paint and experiment. Or we go further with the car and paint there.
Day 7: Friday. Painting in the village, surroundings or on the terrace. Preparation of a small work show in the evening
Day 8: Saturday. Individual departure to the airport or to Marakesch.

All rooms are built and furnished in the simple and comfortable and traditionell style. There are two toilets and a hot shower, accessible to all guests.

Amlougui is 4km from Setti Fadma a famous place and still very autentic
Ansa-Room: This room has a double bed and one single bed. From the window you can look over the terrace up to the mountain.
Meldsen-Room: This double-bed room in which you will feel at home immediately. The mountain Ansa has a special Aura hope you can feel it.
Tea will be served and meals of course too
A place to relax have a gerat view over the valley and the whole village
Yagour-Room: This room has three single beds. The Yagour room, got it's name from the incredible plateau near by. Good to go for a hike.
The living room: A very nice and cozy living- and dining room with a fireplace and a large picture window will complete the well-being.
Get ready for your adventure
Clothes: Basically you need to pack comfortable, long-sleeved tops and long pants to cover arms and legs in order to respect the local culture. Tight-fitting clothes are not recommended. Thank you for your respect!

General equipment: For shorter excursions a daypack is recommended.
Medication: personal medication, small first aid kit, and medication for gastrointestinal upsets such as Bioflorin or Imodium. Rehydration sachets are also a good idea to avoid dehydration!
